Here are eight different shot types which I have researched on the computer and shortened them down to what they really mean and what they are and included some pictures to show how they look.

What do you like and dislike about your college magazine?

 I like the way I have set out my stories and what type of font size and style that I have used for my college magazine, I also like the picture that I have used, it links with my college magazine because they are some of the students that do A levels in the college. I like my contents page as it has photo's to go with the college also it has page numbers to direct the readers to the page.

I do not like the bar code which I have used because it looks really big on the cover page and doesn't make it look realistic. Another thing that I don't like on my cover page is that there are some blue spaces on the magazine, I need to change this so that it looks like a magazine. I don't like the way I have set out the contents page to improve I could change the layout.

What could I improve on the college magazine?

I would improve on the bar code as it is quite big on the cover page so I must change that, also I would have to fill in the blue spaces on the cover page as it would not look like a real magazine cover.

What font sizes and styles have I used on the college magazine?

I have used font size 18 for the small text and the font style is mono type corsiva, the mast head font size is 48 and the font style is Agent red, also the small headings of the story have a font style Agent red and the font size is 12.

 

Have I used three colour rule?
I have not exactly used the three colour rule but two as I have only used the colour blue and black to make it consistent with the contents page, which also has the colour blue and black.

Does the contents page and cover page look the same like a magazine?
I think it does as I tried to make it consistent using the two colours, and I kind of set it out like a magazine.

Are there enough stories on the cover page?
I think there is some but I could have added a bit more so people get a taste of the college even better.

Research and planning- font activity

 

Here is three type of words with different font style this was an activity that we have done to test what style we associate with these words. I have chosen a scary font style for 'death metal' as the word death seems to put people off with a scary feeling. For the word 'pop world' it seems something lively so I have put a bubble word type of style and from the last word 'popcorn' I put a style that kind of looks like a popcorn.

Here is my front cover of my college magazine which I have drawn on paper as a draft, then I have used this as a guide to make my electronic piece on the computer. On this draft I have included all the things that a magazine has to have such as the image, slug line, stories that people want to read and the price and bar code.

Also here is my contents page which I have also drawn on paper as a draft and then I also done this on the computer as a plan type of contents, not finished.

Here are some of the audience research that we have done by asking students about what they would prefer in the college magazine.
Here are some of the questions and answers that we have got so far from the college students.
we have got the students to answer at least five questions for the college magazine.
1. What would you associate with college?
some of the answers that we got are education and social stuff.
2. what stories do they want to read about in the college magazine?
- current college sport stories
- current performance
- pass rates
- updates and current activity stories
3.  How much are you willing to pay for it?
Some of the students have said either 50p, 30p or you should not charge any money as it is their own college and every one should now about whats going on around the college.
4. What top tips would you give to A level students on how to succeed in college?
Many of the students have said work hard, do good revision, study well and don,t let people put you off, also have good attendance and punctuality.
5. What did you think of the percentage of pass rates throughout the past years?
The people that we have interviewed have said that throughout the past years the college pass rates have progressed and they know it will because the college is a helpful place to learn about new things and get the best job you could get.

Research and planning- analysing college magazine

 

In this task I have been on Google to get a college magazine to analyzed, this magazine has a masthead, with a bar code/price, some stories, a slug line, main pictures, date and issue number.This will then lead me to designing my own magazine. The picture on the front is of her mum and dad and the girl is the one who wants to go college, she's looking forward to it, the stories are about Sat's and other things related with the college. The masthead of the magazine is 'college' as this is what the magazine is about.

This is a photo shop challenge that we have done in class to see what we know about Photoshop and how we use it. I have never used this Photoshop as this is my first time and I tried my best to do as much as I can to design this cover, by using the things and tools on Photoshop. 

Research & planning- skin tutorial

In this picture I have given this girl a makeover, firstly I took all the spots of the girls face by using the spot healing brush tool, then I went on filter, blur and then spark blur to make her face shine like a star, then I added the makeover using the brush tool and colour tool. first I done the eyeshadow, then the bottom liner, eyelashes, lipstick and also gave her red and purple hair streaks, also with blushes.

Research and planning: Intro to Photoshop

Here I have uploaded things. one is the music background, the CD, also the instrument and music notes, I haven't used photo shop before this is why I kind of struggled a bit, but tried my best. On the background I changed the wave length and I changed the size of the  the CD to fit on the background, I also changed the  colour of the instrument, but before I done that I cut the instrument out from the other sheet by using the marking tool. Then I rotated both the instrument and the CD, at the end I put the notes in, but I wasn't able to finish all of it as I ran out of time in the lesson.
